Course outline and purpose:

This intensive 2-day course, accredited by Makaton, is designed to enable participants to use prescribed signs, symbols and speech to support and develop children’s communication skills.

The workshops will provide a practical introduction to the use of sign, symbol together with speech, teaching stages 1 to 4 plus additional vocabulary of the Core Vocabulary. Sessions will also include discussions about commonly asked questions, tips for effective sign & symbol use and how to start using Makaton in your settings to aid, support and accelerate the development of language for individuals and groups of children.

The course consists of 4 modules created by Makaton; each module must be completed as set out for you to receive your Makaton Certificate.

In order to ensure high quality training our Licensed Tutors will adhere to Makaton’s guidelines.

This programme is for TAs who want to be consistently effective in promoting positive learning outcomes for all pupils they support. The Olevi Outstanding TA Programme will give access to a deeper understanding of how pupils learn and the necessary skills to secure consistently positive impact on pupil learning. The consistent application of the principles and skills acquired from the OTAP Programme should enable TAs to be judged by their schools as highly effective.

The programme is set over 5 mornings/afternoons and it is essential that you can attend all sessions. It is recommended that a minimum of 2 delegates come from each school.

COURSE OUTLINE AND PURPOSE:

This course will look at some of the technologies used in school to support learning as well as developing skills that will support you in your role as teaching assistant. This course is a hands on workshop, providing teaching assistants the time to explore with technologies to build confidence and skills in using them.

 

The course aims to develop personal computer skills and confidence in using different ICT tools to support learners in school

 

The session will focus on using technology to build confidence and develop skills in using publisher to create resources, using Smart Interactive Whiteboard & software to develop resources.

Course outline and purpose:

This course is designed to meet the needs of any school-based staff required to provide first aid and welfare duties to the youngest children.

The course meets the EYFS/OFSTED/DFCS and Sure Start requirements for those working in care settings for the under 8s and also requirements for the NCMA for these registered as childminders.

Applicants who secure a place will need to attend both days which are scheduled from 9.00-4.00pm.

The online course prepares TAs for the half-day school-based assessment visit or telephone interview, leading to the award of HLTA status. Selection for HLTA is based on the completion of the HLTA application form and fulfilling the entry requirements. The HLTA Programme will run each term.
