This programme is for TAs who want to be consistently effective in promoting positive learning outcomes for all pupils they support. The Olevi Outstanding TA Programme will give access to a deeper understanding of how pupils learn and the necessary skills to secure consistently positive impact on pupil learning. The consistent application of the principles and skills acquired from the OTAP Programme should enable TAs to be judged by their schools as highly effective.

The programme is set over 5 mornings/afternoons and it is essential that you can attend all sessions. It is recommended that a minimum of 2 delegates come from each school.

COURSE OUTLINE AND PURPOSE:

This course will look at some of the technologies used in school to support learning as well as developing skills that will support you in your role as teaching assistant. This course is a hands on workshop, providing teaching assistants the time to explore with technologies to build confidence and skills in using them.

 

The course aims to develop personal computer skills and confidence in using different ICT tools to support learners in school

 

The session will focus on using technology to build confidence and develop skills in using publisher to create resources, using Smart Interactive Whiteboard & software to develop resources.

Code: ENF/19/92 INFERENCE TRAINING FOR TEACHING ASSISTANTS: THE GROUP INTERVENTION

A reading comprehension intervention for pupils in KS2 and KS3 who have age appropriate decoding skills but who are experiencing difficulty acquiring full meaning and enjoyment from their reading.
This one and a half day training programme will give you all the skills you need to deliver high quality Inference Intervention.

On the morning of the first day, Teaching Assistants must be acccompanied by the school Literacy Co-ordinator, SENCO or Senior teacher who will be responsible for setting up and overseeing the intervention (if they have not already attended this half day session).

To outline how the 3 day course prepares TAs for the half-day school-based assessment visit, leading to the award of HLTA status. The information session will be repeated each term. The information is an optional aspect of preparing for HLTA, selection for HLTA is based on the completion of the HLTA application form and fulfilling the entry requirements.

COURSE OUTLINE AND PURPOSE:

This is an interactive session where we will be looking at activities we provide during ‘choosing time’ or ‘free flow play’, and the objectives they meet. We will be exploring a variety of sensory, messy and imaginative play activities and explore how these provide valuable opportunities to develop language and social play.
