This course will provide both academy trustees and governors in maintained schools with an understanding of why Risk Management is vital in all schools.

Steve has a national reputation as a governance expert. He is an experienced and regular speaker at national and regional governor conferences, has had articles published in National titles and been interviewed as a governance expert on the Radio 4 Today Programme on several occasions. Steve has contributed to many national governance initiatives, including being part of the team commissioned by the National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) to develop External Reviews of Governance. Steve has also served on the NCTL Advisory Board on Governance.
This training session will give an overview to the new curriculum that will be introduced from September 2020 which is Relationship Education in Primary, Relationship and Sex Education in Secondary and Health Education in both primary and secondary. We will discuss the guidance from the DfE, resources, schemes of work, policies and the Enfield approach.

Governors provide strategic leadership and accountability and this module will clarify the expectations and responsibilities of a lead governor such as the Chair of a Committee and/or link roles e.g. safeguarding governor in a constantly changing education landscape.
